Mary Robeson Step GGGrandmother of President Lincoln
Trying to locate Mary Robeson Lincoln Rogers.
I have been trying to find Mary Robeson's parents.
My line is through: Mordecai Lincoln and Mary Robeson Lincoln and their son,Thomas Lincoln and Elizabeth Davis, their son, Hananiah Lincoln and Sarah Jane Jefferies, their daughter, Sarah Lincoln and George Washington Peterman and their daughter, Martha Ann Peterman and Riley J. Upton, and their daughter, Parilla Upton and Hudspeth P. Holman, and their daughter, Nancy Catherine Holman (Holeman) and Frederick Andrew Reed, my grandparents.
Mary Robeson was married, July 1729, to Mordecai Lincoln, [{b)24 April 1686, Hingham, Mass. and d) 12 May 1736, Amity, Washington Co., PA.], who would have been the Great Great Grandfather of Presedent Abraham Lincoln.Mary Robeson, b)?abt 1705 and d)before 25 March 1783 in Amity, PA, was Mordecai's second wife and that would make herpresident Lincoln's, step-Great Great Grandmother.
Children of Mordecai Lincoln and Mary Robeson:
1. Thomas Lincoln b) 1732 d)abt 1775 Married Elizabeth Davis, b) 1729
2. Mordecai Lincoln b) 9 May 1730, Amity, Washington Co., PA
d)March 1812, Uniontown or Fayette Co. PA.
3. Abraham Lincoln b) 18 October 1736, Exeter, Berks Co., PA
d) 31 January 1806, Exeter, Berks Co., PA.
Married, July 10, 1760, Exeter Twp, Berks Co., PA:
Anne Boone, b) 1737 d) 1807
After the death of Mordecai Lincoln, Mary Robeson Lincoln married before, 17 January 1742, to Roger Rogers, and on that date gave a power of attorney to her, son-in-law,(who married Anne Lincoln, Mary's step-daughter), William Tallman of Amity, Pennsylvania, in which she is described as, "Mary Rodgers of Exeter...Sole Executrix of Mordecai Lincoln, my deceased husband."This power of attorney was to authorize William Tallman to dispose of the one hundred acres of land in New Jersey, which was authorized by Mordecai Lincoln to sell for the benefit of his daughters, Ann (Lincoln) Tallman and Sarah (Lincoln) Boone, (step-daughters of Mary Robeson Lincoln).
Witnessed by Roger Rogers.
Mordecai died when Mary Robeson Lincoln was an expectant mother. Her stepson John Lincoln was 21 years old and her four stepdaughters were only 9-12 years old.Her own two sons were 4 years and 6 years old.
William Tallman sold the land, 10 May 1743, and in the deed Mary Robeson Lincoln is called, "widow and sole executrix, being now the wife of Roger Rogers". (Philadelphia Deeds, Bood D3, page 146.
Roger Rogers died intestate and the administration was granted to Mary (Robeson Lincoln) Rogers, his widow, 22 December 1758.There is no evidence of their having children.
In June 1775, Mary (Robeson Lincoln) Rogers, was administratrix on the extate of her son Thomas Lincoln, (Ancestry of Abraham Lincoln, page 70-72).
Initially I thought that Mary's parents were:
Andrew Robeson b)abt 1654 in Scotland, d) Feb 19, 1718/19 Douglassville, PA, Buried at the Old Swedes Church Gloria Dei, Philadelphia, PA, who married abt 1690,
Maria Helm b) 1667 d) 12 Nov 1716, PA.
I have seen numerous references to the above parentage and that Mary was born at Shoomac Park, Roxborough, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania.
I contacted Dr. Peter S. Craig, F.A.S.G, Noted Genealogist,
for the Swedish Colonial Society, 3406 Macomb St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20016-3160.I was going to join the society if this was the same Mary Robeson who married Mordecai Lincoln, and was the daughter of Andrew Robeson (Scot) and Mary Helm (Swede). The following was his response:
November 7, 2002
Mary Robeson, daughter of Andrew Robeson and Maria Helm, was married by 21 May 1724, when Michael Huling, her husband, signed a deed confirming to her brother, Andrew Robeson, Jr., the lands bequeathed to him by his father. (Phila. deeds, G-12:178).Two of their children were buried at Christ Church in, 1734, and Mary Robeson Huling herself was buried on, 27 April 1736, according to the records of Christ Church. (Hildebrand, Christ Church Baptism & Burial Records, p. 168). Michael Huling then married second, Susannah Cock, 3 May 1737.

EXETER:
