I am beginning to research my father's family. I know that his mother was Agnes Yedlicka, one of 11 children born to Peregrin and Anna (Cipra) Yedlicka in PA. I think I found Peregrin on the Ellis Island site, but his name is listed there as Pelegrin Jedlicka. I do not know if that was an error or if he changed it. He was from Bohemia, but I do not know exactly where. My father remembers a brother named Emil Yedlicka, whom I was able to find in the census, but no record of him coming through Ellis Island.
the Ellis Island info showed that Peregrin was traveling with Joseph Jedlicka who was 2 years older than Peregrin. Possibly brothers? Their passage was paid by an uncle also named Joseph Jedlicka. My father is not familiar with anyone in the family named Joseph.
Peregrin was born May 10, 1881 and died August 19, 1957. Anna Cipra was born October 03, 1886 and died January 22, 1936. That is according to a family tree that was done in 1980 for a family reunion, so I do not know just how accurate that info is.
Do these names sound familiar to anyone? Is anyone familiar with a Yedlicka/Jedlicka connection?
