I am very interested in learing something of the history of our name. My branch of the family comes from Hornell, New York. My grandmother, Mary, was I think from Virginia and had the same last name of Jaynes. My grandfather was named Edwin Jayne. When they married he took the name Jaynes. They are all buried in the old hillside cemetery in Hornell. My dad, Paul Edwin Jaynes died about ten years ago .. born 1919. There are five of us in his family .. and only one of the five has a child with the last name of Jaynes. Stephen Jaynes works for Hamilton College in New York state. Any other New York or Virginia connections?
