Hi Marianne, This is my first time on the Jayne Message Board. Iv'e been on many other Messages boards for quite a few years. I went back and read a lot of messages. I can answer some of the questions that have been raised in the past but perhaps a lot have already been answered. I was born and raised on Long Island and have been to Setauket many times as I courted a girl who lived there. Setauket was on the North Shore and I lived straight across the Island and live on the South Shore in a town called Blue Point, and was born in 1929 in a town called Manorville. I have completed many Family search's and recently have decided to research all my grandmothers, thus I have just completed the Jayne family. Caroline (Carrie) Jayne is my G Grandmother she was the first wife of Luther V. Tuttle who of course is my G Grandfather. I won't bother to give all the lineage ( unless you or someone else wants it) but Carrie goes to Stephen Jayne b. Brookhaven 1700 and d. Setauket 1774 his parents Mehitable Jenkins 4th wife of William De Jeanne/ Jayne 1618--1714 . Now here is what I suggest you and other interested persons do Go to the "Google Site " and type in William De Jeanne Of course search scroll down 6 items, called surnames you will find some interesting reading also for those who want some pictures they can get them here on that site ( tombstone and Home ) One other point and that is that as a student of Church History I feel that records and that is of William not Henry would be wiped out because as we know Wiiiam became a Purtian minster and that would call for excomunication from the Church of England and they would prefer to say he never exisited. Thats it I will be glad to share info Ken Tuttle of Quakertown Pa
