I am researching a Jarvis family from Eton,Buckinghamshire, England.
John Jarvis (1)b. abt. 1763 in England and Ann Mist married 1789 in Sunninghill, England. They had 11 children:
1)Sarah Jarvis b. abt 1789, Warfield, England
2) Ann Jarvis b. abt. 1790, Eton, England
3)William Jarvis b. abt 1793, Eton, England
4)Edward Jarvis b. 01 Mar 1795, Eton, England- died 04 Aug 1877 Gardiner, Kennebec, Maine
5)Maria Jarvis b. abt. 1797, Eton, England
6)James Jarvis b. abt. 1798, Eton,England - died 23 Jun 1877 Peabody, Mass
7)Charles Jarvis b. abt. 1800, Eton, England
8)Joseph Jarvis b. abt 1802, Eton, England
9)Mary Ann Jarvis b. abt 1805, Eton, England
10)Charles Jarvis b. abt 1807, Eton, England - d. 1808, Eton, Eng.
11)John Jarvis (2) b. ?
John Jarvis (1) was a poulterer in the village of Eton, England in 1798. His son Edward Jarvis was a currier and practiced in the village of Eton. Edward came to the USA in 1814 he was in the British Army. He settled finally at Gardiner, Maine and married to Catherine Millay.
James Jarvis supposedly settled in Peabody Mass and had descendants. James was also currier. At his death it states he was a widower, but I can't seem to find a marriage record, birth records or census records of them in Massachusetts or Maine. Anyone familiar with this family line ?
In the personal memoirs of Edwards son, Kingsbury Millay Jarvis, a business person in Malden, Mass., he states that Edward and James had other sisters and brothers that stayed in Eton, England, namely; Edward, John, Joseph, Maria, and Ann.
Any information on James Jarvis or family in Peabody Mass., is welcomed. Any info on the family left in England is also welcomed.
