Hi Diane,
Thanks for the info.
I have been in discussion with Jean Christie and others on the Jarvie family (Banton/Kilsyth), I have managed to reliably verify my descendants back to John Jarvie (b.1826 d.1899)
Your web site is very informative and its accuracy is excellent.
I myself come from the Village of Banton and a few of the places you have mentioned on your site still exist, Low Banton, Binniemire and the Mallions (which is now called the Old Mailings), a good friend of mine actually stays in Binniemire it has not changed for at least 200 years.
Your Grandfather is undoubtably a Banton Jarvie, he is very similar to My Grandfather and his Brothers (They all seemed to look the same).
I have discovered that my Great Granfathers Daughter is still alive and I am trying to contact her as I am sure she will remeber your Grandfather before he left for OZ.. watch this space..
Ongoing I am now creating a web site of my own and I have compiled many photographs of places people etc.. I would be only to glad to send you some if required (There all in digital format (jpg)) contact me through my e-mail if you require photographs or any other information.
Best Regards
