Hi Rick,

I only have 2 Joseph Jarvies born in Kilsyth between 1800 and 1820 on any of the scottish census records (Scottish Census taking started in 1801 and 10 years thereafter) -

Kilsyth, Mother: Isobel PATRICK Father: John JARVIE       Child: Joseph       Christned 1808       Aug 14th
(I have a photograph of John & Isobels grave)

Kilsyth, Mother: Ann HARTLY Father: William JARVIE       Child: Joseph       Christned 1828       May 6th

You mention you are a descendent of a James Jarvie b. abt 1845 in Kilsyth, however Joseph and Sarah Scott were not married until 1847, could Joseph have been married before and had James? as I have no mention of Sarah Scott being married to Joseph around this date.

You also mention Joseph and Sarah were married in Kirkintilloch, this is not in Leith, Midlothian (Which is in Edinburgh) but about 40 miles to the west (3 miles from Kilsyth - and me actually).

Really struggling with this one but I think Joseph was married before.

If I can be of any more help drop me a line.

P.S. Where in Canada are you from we returned last June and hope to move back soon.
Regards
Jim Horne Jarvie
