Here is the obit. that was in my grandfather's bible. Elizabeth would have been my great great grand mother.

She was born in 1789 Owen was born in 1790.

Owen was son of James bn 1750.

Obituary Elizabeth Jarrett November 25th 1877 wife of Owen Jarrett.

Died at Jarrett’s Ford, Kanawha county, West Virginia, November 25th, 1877, Mrs. ELIZABETH JARRETT, aged 88 years, 5 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Jarrett was a daughter of Joseph Vincent, born in Greenbrier county; married Owen Jarrett, and at an early day with her husband emigrated to this county, and thus became one of the pioneer families of Elk River. They erected a comfortable dwelling at Jarrett’s Ford, which became a place of entertainment for the traveling public, widely noted for the hospitality, kindness and charity of its inmates. The old mansion though reared 75 years ago, stands on an eminence on the bank of Elk, surrounded by a beautiful valley and grand mountain scenery, with the clear and sparkling waters of Elk river, as an emblem of purity flowing by.

It was hear they lived, loved and reared ______ eleven children, ten of whom are yet living, and are highly respectable citizens of our county, noted for their honesty, upright conduct, and religious zeal,

and whose line of decent we presume is more numerous than any other family in our county. Many years ago death entered the family circle and carried away a dear sister, (Bettie) who died in the full triumph of living faith. At a later period, some 26 years ago, the father and husband, Owen Jarrett, in the fullness of a Savour’s love departed this life; and now is becomes our solemn duty to record the death of the mother ( Elizabeth Jarrett,) an important point in her history was her early piety- she embraced religion at the age of fifteen years joined the M. E. Church, in which she lived a true and consistent member ever adhearing strictly to her christian profession which doubtless exerted a powerful influence in preserving her against the fashionable vices of this generation.

About twenty years ago, still in possession of the “perfect love that casteth out all fear,” she attached herself to the Missionary Baptist Church, under the auspices of Rev. Jonathan Smith. Her long life was adorned with Christian graces throughout. She manifested at all times, a spirit of kindness, charity and good will toward all, with malice toward none. Such was the urbanity of her deportment that

She was never known to have an enemy, but all who knew her loved and admired her noble qualities. Her house was at all times a home for ministers, where they were at once made welcome and comfortable. She was an affectionate and dutiful wife, a kind mother, and her Christian experience , virtues and intelligence made her an agreeable associate for all love --- piety.. By her upright walk and Good conversation, she shed a luster on the

_____ of Christ, setting an example worth ______ the imitation of all who desire a home in heaven. Thus with a name untarnished, a character irreproachable, surrounded by many weeping relations and friends being loved by all, she sinks to the tomb.

For six months previous to her death, she was confined to her bed. She suffered much; yet, in all she was patient and perfectly resigned, never complained, murmured or feared, but to all who approached her she expressed a readiness and willingness to meet death with her mind perfectly staid on God, with calmness and serenity. She desired to depart and be with Christ. Her last words were of Jesus; Her last motion an effort to praise God.

Though dead, her spirit lives in the land of light and glory, while the flesh rests in hope, waiting the days of the appointed time till the change comes, when God will call her forth to mingle with all the redeemed forever. May we all meet our mother, our grand mother and our great-grand mother in that land of love where parting will be no more.
