This is information I copied from History of West Virginia Old and New
and West Virginia, Volume III, published by The American Historical
Society, Inc. 1923
Boyd Jarrell was born in Wayne County, WV, May 16, 1875. His Great
grand father moved here from Eastern Ky very early in the nineteenth
century and was a slave holding farmer and planter.

MARY KATHERINE JARRELL: Mrs. Jarrell, 88, formerly of Huntington,
died on Friday, June 11, 2004, in Charlotte, N.C.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at
Morningstar Presbyterian Church, 13000 Idlewild Road, Matthews, N.C.,
with the Reverend Dr. Millie Snyder officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial
service.
Internment will take place in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington, W.Va.
at a later date.
Mrs. Jarrell was born March 30, 1916, in Chattaroy, W.Va., daughter of
the late William S. and Edith Campbell Estler.
She spent her childhood at "Orchard Hills" in Barboursville and then
lived in Huntington where she was a member of First Presbyterian
Church, and a teacher at Barboursville High School and Cammack Junior
High.
She received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marshall
University.
She was married to Boyd Jarrell, a longtime journalist in Huntington,
who at the time of his death in 1972 was managing editor of The
Herald-Dispatch.
Mary Katherine retired to Charlotte in 1980 where she focused a
lifelong interest in quilts and quilting in new ways as a quilting
teacher and quilt historian.
She served as President of the Charlotte Quilters Guild in 1982-83.
She saw quilts as a metaphor for the strength, adaptability,
creativity and sisterhood of women. Passing on the knowledge of
quilts and the skills to create them to the next generation brought
her great joy.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynne and Lawrence
Calhoun of Charlotte; son and daughter-in-law, Boyd Jarrell and Linda
Crawford of San Francisco, Calif.; granddaughters, Eliza Katherine
Calhoun of State College, Pa., and Mary Laura Calhoun of Washington,
D.C.; brother, Robert H. Estler of Barboursville, W.Va.; and eight
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William C. Estler,
Graham Estler and Carl I. Estler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningstar Presbyterian
Church. Gaskin
Services, Matthews, N.C., is handling arrangements.

BEAUFORT - Ralph "Buck" Milledge Morris, III, 82, husband of Beverly
Romeis Morris, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, in Beaufort
Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2008, at 11:00
a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Beaufort National
Cemetery.
Mr. Morris was born November 1, 1926, in Augusta, GA. He was the son
of the late Ralph Milledge Morris, Jr. and Iris Jarrell Morris of
Columbia, SC.
Mr. Morris was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served
as an elder. He was the owner and operator of Humble Buck's Exxon
Station for more than 20 years. After retirement, Buck enjoyed
volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, mission
trips and USCB programs on Pritchard's Island.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Beverly of Beaufort, SC, and Lake
Placid, FL, are three sons, Ralph Milledge Morris, IV, David Hopkins
Morris and Robert Bradfield Morris, all of Beaufort, SC; one
daughter, Martha Lynn Webb of Beaufort, SC; one brother, Joseph
Jarrell Morris of Columbia, SC, and one sister, Iris Morris Shealy of
Quitman, GA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Hopkins Morris.
The family suggests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian
Church Endowment Fund, PO Box 1226, Beaufort, SC 29901 or Loggerhead
South Associations, Inc., USCB Programs at Pritchard Island, PO Box
1406, Beaufort, SC 29901.
Anderson Funeral Home is serving the family.
