A Professor Jaquay from Pittburgh Pa.
Hello all, thought I would post again for any info on a Professor Jaquay who traveled around the states in the 1875's giving lectures using Steriscoptic photos/lenses I purchased a flyer mounted on barn wood siding last yearthat was an advertisment for one of his programs. It was to be held at the Witch Hollow school some where in the Akron Ohio area .My maternal Grand-Mother was a Jaquay, born in Pittsburgh to Elmer,Maud Cripps Jaquay.
I have since found a cousin in Pittsburgh who'sfather
was my G M's brother, but he knows very little family history as his father died when he was 13.The "family legend " that I had always heard was a relative by the name of Jaquay was a famous Astronomer and had a full length portrat of himself hanging in one of the Carnegie museums . So far not a shred of evidence points to this story, and I have this very old advertising plaque that is neat but not sure who the "Professor " is or if he is even related to me . There is no first name on the advertisment only "Professor Jaquay" from Pittsburgh. Has anyone else found a relative who fits his discription? I have found a wonderful couple on this board who share the name and we have become e-mail buddies ,so it has not been a total blind alley. Looking forward to hearing from anyone....Donna G.
