Hi Derek,
Since your John Japp also came from Dalgety, I think he may have been the son of one of my James Japp's brothers; maybe Thomas or David. I've only tracked my direct line though, so thats only a guess. If you do find his parents, let me know. I have more on James' ancestors. JoAnn
