Thank you Derek Japp for your info on Catherine Japp b. 1821. If she was indeed my 3xGrandmother, then she was only 15 yrs of age when she married on 27 Nov 1836 to my 3xGrandfather - John Cable b. 1809 (then aged 27, so 12 yrs her senior). Their 1st of eight children, William was born in 1838 when she (your kindly suggested Catherine) was 17 yrs old. I do not know if young ladies tended to marry at 15 years of age at that time in Angus - so this puts a small doubt into my thoughts. Unfortunately I have no knowledge about Catherine Japp, nor her ancestors, and, like yourselves, am very keen to find out more. Seperately, it could be an interesting coincidence that my afore-mentioned ancestor 3xGrandfather John Cable - b. 2 Dec 1809, Forfar, Angus, (married to one Catherine Japp on 27 Nov 1836, Forfar), was definately a 1st cousin of another John Cable - b. 1 Jan 1805 in Rescobie, who married Isabella BUTCHART on 10 June 1832. (Isabella was born abt 1807 in Dundee). Could this Isabella Butchart be a relative (Niece?) of your Elizabeth Butchart, married to Alexander Japp in 1811 ? This Elizabeth and Alexander who you believe to be the parents of Catherine (the 15 year old wife of John Cable). Please could you possibly supply the addresses where I may find the assorted information on the various dates (births, marriages etc) that you have managed to contact so far. I would so appreciate this information. I have considerable data about the ancestors of Catherine's husband - John Cable, but hardly think this will be of any interest to yourselves. However, please do not hesitate to ask if this will help. The Cables of Forfar were mostly weavers and several of them are buried in the Forfar graveyard - although most of the family left for the four corners of the earth. Please stay in touch as progress is made, as we certainly are travelling along a similar path at the moment. Thanks. Anthony Cable
