1879-name changed from Tokyo Shokonsha
Chief priest of Meiji shrine was General Ichinose
Chief priest of Yasukuni was General Suzuki

More recent Chief Priests:

Takaharu Kyogoku; former president of port shipping company in Yokohama; family belonged to the "kazoku" (peer) class. His family once ruled Tajima Toyoka, now part of Hyogo Prefecture.

Toshiaki Nambu--head of Morioka clan, now Iwate Prefecture.

Fujimaro Tsukuba, died 1978.
