Hi Helen,
I too am having great difficulty tracing family information in the Yokohama area. A friend of mine who lives there told me that many records are lost due to destruction during the war and also a great fire in the city, lost forever. This is not very good news for those looking for family members in the region.
Meanwhile I am hoping that some burial records may exist with cemeteries or at the very least on gravestones. However I do not know how, without going there myself and searching all cemeteries, how I might obtain that information.
If you ever do discover a source, I hope you will pass it on!
