In 1981 I personally interviewed Warner Cleveland Cooke (1888-1982), son of Charles C. Cooke (1822-1905).Warner said "...My father Charlie C. Cooke was born 1822 and reared by old grandfather January and sat at his feet and listened to his oft told stories of his emigration to the new world...I being the youngest of my father's children of two marriages...sat at my father's feet and also listened to the oft told stories of the happenings over those many years...Abraham Cooke and Blanche January married about 1814...The Januarys were originally from London, England.Blanche's mother was a Garrett--where the Garrett Snuff Company originated. The Januarys were married in Eastern Virginia and lived in Franklin County [Tennessee] at the mouth of Ash Camp Hollow on Elk River...Abraham Cooke's children Charlie and Nellie were raised by their grandparents, the Januarys...Charlie's and Nellie's grandfather January was buried in the Fanning Cemetery in Franklin County along with Nellie and her husband Bill Pylant. His grave is marked by a small fieldstone..."

H. Pylant born Dec. 6, 1825 died June 29, 1897 aged 71 yrs. 6 mos. & 23 days. Her day of birth is one day different than the Bible record.

Cooke (1822-1905) who married Rachel Morris Dec. 10, 1856 in Franklin Co., TN, in 1853 Charlie sold land to his future father-in-law Thomas Morris with a reserve for the benefit of Isaac and Margaret January.Morris was to do the plowing and milling and the Januarys were to live on the land as long as either of them lived, according to the wording of the deed. When the 1860 census was taken in Franklin County, the listing of this family's household showed Charles C. Cooke age 37, his wife Rachel age 21, one daughter Margaret J. age 4, one son Isaac T. age 1, and Isaac January age 87.Since Isaac January's wife Margaret was not listed, it is assumed she died after 1850 and before 1860.

Cooke said his grave was marked by a small fieldstone near Nellie and Bill Pylant's stone in the Fanning Cemetery. I personally took Warner to the Fanning Cemetery and he showed me the stone before he died in 1982 at the age of 94.
