I've also seen the spelling of JAHNICKE(I)

The line I'm researching also has ties to Prussia. May be some connection:

JANICKE/JAENICKE/JAHNICKE line. WILHELM b. 1864 to MARTIN & FREDERIKA - Berlin. 5 Siblings: MARTIN,EMIELE, KARL, JULIUS, ELIZABETH -- all born in Berlin.

WILHELM Married DORTHEA REUBER 1887. 9 children: FRIEDA, CHARLES, IDA, WILLIAM & Twin Sister, MABLE, ELLA, EDWARD, EMIL -- all born inIllinois.

Family came to Freeport Illinois area late 1890's or early 1900's.
