I have some information on the Janes - Norvell family in my database and book, provided by family members
1.JOSEPH WILLIAM1 JANESHe married RACHEL E. SARIMORE.
Child of JOSEPH JANES and RACHEL SARIMORE is:
2. i. SAMUAL ISAAC ERR2 JANES, b. 08 Sep 1872, Missouri; d. 21 Apr 1939, Missouri.
Generation No. 2
2.SAMUAL ISAAC ERR2 JANES (JOSEPH WILLIAM1)1,2 was born 08 Sep 1872 in Missouri3,4,5, and died 21 Apr 1939 in Missouri. He married MYRTLE ALICE NORVELL6,7 17 Dec 1894 in Independence, Jackson, Missouri8, daughter of BENJAMIN NORVELL and MARY RISK.She was born 06 Apr 1879 in Indiana8,9,10, and died 09 Jul 1950 in Indiana.
Notes for SAMUAL ISAAC ERR JANES:
Samual Jaynes, a Lees Summitcarpenter, has been locked up in jail at Independence since November 26 for enticing Miss Myrtle Norvell, 16 years old away from her home at Lees’ Summit. This morning the girl came to Independence with her parents and announced her desire to marry Jaynes. As she had her parents’ consent the languishing lover was released form duress and Justice Jones performed the
ceremony. The marriage is the conclusion of a somewhat fatiguing time for Jaynes. He came to Lees’ Summit from St. Louis several months ago and met the girl at a picnic July 4, last. It was a case of mutual capitulation and in spite of the emphatic objections of the girl’s parents, who soon learned of the
affair, they met frequently. On November 7th they ran away. They started for St. Louis, but Jaynes captial soon gave out and the journey had to be completed on foot. When near St. Louis, they were overtaken and arrested by an officer sent out by the angry father and brought back to Lees’ Summit. Jaynes was lodged in jail there because he could not give $10,000 bond, but a crowd of angry citizens gathered and the officer becoming frightened removed him to Independence, where he had been confined.
