Jamison, Newton A. of the 58th NC Infantry, with the Jamison name there is 4 main spelling version, I have done genealogy tracing for 4 people with that name, 3 in the Confederate States one in Yankee land. 3 out of 4 Thanked Me! a few of them their family line was traced to the 1600's.

Your Jamison, Newton A. is spelled Jemerson, when you track him through the U S Census, the census takers spell it different ways, can drive you up the wall!

But yours is spelled:

Jemerson, Newton A.

Enlisted in the 60th North Carolina Infantry Company E "Bumcombe Framers"

Enlistment Date 17th May 1862 age at enlistment 31

Paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina 1st May 1865

The 60th N.C. Infantry was formed October 1862 and Consolidated with the 58th N.C. Infantry 9th April 1865
