The historical picture of Zerelda James Sammuel has a dress on that the buttons are sewn on the right side of the dress, in the picture, which is obvious that the picture is reversed. This is probably a store bought dress or a dress maker made it (as was common in this time). A store, such as Sears and Roebuck certainly would not have sold a dress with the buttons sewn on the wrong side of a dress and if a dress maker made it they would not have made such an error. My Mother was a dress maker for one of the largest dress makers in Austin, Texas in the 1920's and certainly would not have made this type of error. I, at 9 years old would not have made this error, when I made my first dress.
Max Courtney did not prove anything in court in reference to the picture of Betty's ggrandmother. The picture has not been doctured, unless the historical one of Zerelda James has also been doctured.
As I have stated before, pictures taken in this period of time, were taken with plates and unless the photographer marked the plates they often were reversed.
Are you stating that Zeralda in the historical picture has a right arm missing and that she would wear a dress with the buttons sewn on the wrong side? Also, that Betty's gggrandmother's picture has been "doctored" because the buttons are sewn on the wrong side? Are you really stating the Historical Picture of Zeralda is correct even though the buttons are on the wrong side of the dress and the dress that Betty's gggrandmother is wearing in the picture has been reversed because the buttons are on the wrong side? They either both have a right are missing and wore dresses incorrectly made because of the buttons on the incorrect side or they both have a left are missing and wore dresses with the button sewn on the correct side. Which one is it?
My parents would be 101 years old, if alive, I had at one time 5 great-aunts alive, most of the females in the family have sewn clothes, including myself, (I made my oldest son's wedding suit and my daughter's wedding dress and another girl's wedding dress), from family and myself I can tell you, no female of that time would have worn a dress with the buttons sewn on the wrong side of a garment.
