The opposing Courtney family and others have claimed that JLC was a Union soldier and they have the records to prove it. This is the same group that claims that the Texas JLC was not and could not have been a Confederate soldier. JCL’s diary has associations with James Gang members and Confederates. Does this make sense unless he was a Confederate also? Seems like Betty's claim is more credible than her opposing relatives. Anyone out there want to try and show Betty in error on this one?
