A couple weeks ago, the "Old Greenville Cemetery" in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, was vandalized. I work with various historical research and am trying to identify each person known buried in the cemetery. One marker in the cemetery is: Elizabeth James Aug 6 1796 - Jan 12 1873 Based on the ages, I found an Elizabeth James living in Auburn, Logan County, Kentucky, that fits this birth year. She told that she was born in Virginia. Below is what I found. 1850 census ----------- Elizabeth James 54 Isaac James 21 Elizabeth James 18 Francis James 16 Vilinda James 14 Mary T James 11 1860 census ----------- Elizabeth James 63 Elizabeth James 26 Vilender James 23 1870 census (Clay Ky) ----------- Elizabeth James 74 Valinda A James 32 I did find the following obituary which may indicate that the "Elizabeth James" I am looking for was Elizabeth Ashburn that married Isaac L. James. This is a big maybe. Name: Chas F James Death Date: 26 Oct 1912 Death Location: Logan Residence Location: Logan Age: 91 Gender: Male Ethnicity: White Birth Date: 7 Jun 1821 Birth Location: Logan Father's Name: Isaac L James Father's Birth Location: Virginia Mother's Name: Elizabeth Ashburn Mother's Birth Location: Virginia Any help you can give regarding Elizabeth James is greatly appreciated.
