Hello Fran, Yesterday after the morning church service & early picnic was over, Eileen Jensen and her six year old great granddaughter, Kela Stephens & I decided to take a drive up to Manitou Springs. CO for an outing. We drove up Tejon Ave taking in all of the changes of downtown Colorado Springs, CO and then looped around the college grounds and back on North Tejon and found the house at 1230 N. Tejon Ave where Lee Howk had lived back in May & June of 1953.We took two pictures of this house. A man came out and ask me why I took pictures of his house. Then we drove over to 1339 N. El Paso St where my sister Edna was born in October of 1929. Took a picture of this house. Then we made our way slowly looking at some other houses that had been homes of two of my older sisters. Took a picture of the house where my sister Veena & I were born at 507 W. 23rd St in Old Colorado City. Then slowly made our way west until I got us on Lovers Lanes going west. The closes house numbers that we could find to 141 & 1/2 Lovers Lane was 120 & 119. By this time it was a Manitou rain storm and the temperture dropped 30 degree within 15 minutes and we took shelter like over hundred or more tourist did into the many shops. Kela was starting to shake from getting wet, we was afraid she would start loosing body temperature, so we bought her a hooded sweat-sweater that had the word Manitou on it. After we warmed up at a Wendy's with some hot chocolate, we drove the other directions through this very narrow road called Lovers Lane and I had Eileen take some pictures of the likely place that Lee Howk had lived in 1956, while I stop in the middle of the narrow road. I know that this article is not true genealogy material, but I am posting it here as a follow up of the "GOOSE that flew low" story that I believe had some merits of being posted. Sincerely, Bob James. Notify Administrator about this message?
