For the moment I am taking a rest from James L. Courtney until Betty completes her book or until there is something more or new to say.

Recently I have been fascinated as I read various stories and queries about the life of Robert Sallee James. In 1850 it is said that he went to California where he died shortly after arriving. The various accounts of the leave time, the trip time, the cause of death, and the place of death contradict. I would challenge anyone to prove one story is any more credible than another is. It is more like a multiple choice than history.

Some suggest there was a cover-up and he returned to Kansas or Missouri and started another life. It does make one wonder. Did Jesse get some ideas from the old man?

Anybody out there got any information about this subject beyond what the traditional story tells. It would be a fun topic to explore.

And Phil, since there is no proof, possibility is fair game to consider. Who knows, maybe a piece here and there will develop into new information that will be proven.

David
