I didn't address the "Pinkerton/wound" question because I really don't understand what you mean. I you are asking how the Pinkertons had a description of Jesse, including known wounds, the answer is investigation and information. The two chest wounds were fairly common knowledge around Clay county after he returned following the war. Doctors treated him, who later provided a little information. The missing tip of the middle finger on the left hand was also widely known, and was in fact the main topic of identification that was passed on to the railroad employees.
