Betty Duke is in error when she states that three different "experts" have verified her family photos match with known James family photo's.
I, personally, have spoken with Betty's experts and have written statements from them saying what they did and didn't do. They did NOT do anything but look at the photos with their naked eye and remark they were similar. Ms. Duke has misrepresented their examinations and their statements.
The photo on the cover of Betty's book - the one she says is a young James L. Courtney - is identified by family members as Travis Barron, James Courtney's brother-in-law.
It appears to me that Betty is researching backwards -- she is making the evidence fit her conclusion.
My problems with Ms. Duke's claims do not come from a fear of rewriting history. They stem from the fact that she has fabricated her evidence -- a fact that any credible genealogist would be horrified of - and then expects gullible individuals to buy into it.
