I have been researching my gg grandfather, Edward Plaice Foster (1798 - 1862).
Col. John Forster 1681 - 1731 and his wife Elizabeth Smith son, William Foster (1722 - 1768) 1st m, Elizabeth Foster 2nd m. Dr. Henry Barham, Joseph, the youngest son, took the name of his step-father as Joseph Foster Barham.

William Foster (1722 - 1768) m. Dorothy Gale, part of the Gale Family of Yorkshire. Their 3rd son John Foster (1767 - 1831), of the Bogue Estates, Jamaica and of Brikhill House, Bedford. He was a magistrate in both England and Jamaica. 1st m. Margaret, daughter of Thomas Place Esq. Recorder of York. Their four children were William, Thomas (Infant Death) Edward Plaice and Margaret.
John Foster 2nd m. his cousin Flora Foster b. 1774 Elim, daughter of Samuel Foster b. 1725 Elim. No issue.
John Foster 3rd m Amelia Morgan b. 1782 daughter of John Morgan, Recorder of Maidstone, and had 2 daughters and 3 sons. The sons of John Foster's 1st marriage were displaced by the sons of his 3rd marriage to Amelia Morgan. Edward was recorded as 'died young', William as d. unm.
Edward Plaice Foster was sent to Jamaica in 1817 aged 19. My g grandfather. William Foster (1837 - 1908), was the first son of Edward Plaice Foster and Mary McFarlane, a Jamaican woman of mixed race. William Foster migrated to N.Z. in the 1850s via England and m. Ellen Fulcher, Norfolk, England in N.Z. They had 16 children, so there are many descendants in N.Z.
Do you have any records of Edward Plaice Foster's family of 8 children in Jamaica? We have some letters and reminiscences written by g granddaughter now resident in Florida.
Would like to know more about the travel of these early families to and from England and Jamaica.
