Karen,
Frustrating, isn't it? I am now going through a long list of Bucey/Busey/Bussey/Buce surnames in Dorchester, Calvert, Talbot, Prince George's, Harford Counties in the 1668-1750 time period. It's a slow, agonizing search. I have finally discarded everything that is in the query message boards, and the various Bussey (etc.) websites and decided to do a raw search as I have run into so many things that have just made the search more laborious due to false information. My guess, at this point is that we are dealing with names such as Magruder, Dorsey, Claggett, Whipp, Combs, Griffith, Griffin and others that need to be investigated as possible links back to the Bucey surname. Those Bucey (etc.) names that are witnesses to wills and listed in land documents, etc. regarding in these other named individuals documents that might provide a clue to lead us in the right direction.
I have even considered looking at other spellings that come close to be similar to Bucey, such as Buckley, Bukey, Bucky, Bucie, Bussi, Besey, Bessie, Bessey, etc. There are also Bucey surnames in that time period in North Carolina and Virginia that might provide a clue. But, it is definitely a one step at a time process. I might add that may Jamaican genealogy records arelisted in England records of which I have considered looking at to see if something shows on Griffith Bucey in these records. It has come to a brain storming point to see what avenues can be surfaced in this search.
