My Jaques ancestors also came from Yorkshire, only much later - 1830s. Some went to Virginia, and the others settled in the Niagara region of Ontario. The oldest ancestor I've found is Christopher Jaques, b. 1750 in Murton, Westmoreland, d. 1834, m. Hannah Bellas. Ring any bells?
