I believe part of this to be correct but I have in my possession an interview with Matilda from 1937. She said she was born in 1854 in Skullyville. 1 year after she was born her father was lured away from home by some men to butcher a hog. They killed him and his body was never found. Now, they could have typed her birth year wrong but the fact her father was killed close to Skullyville in indian territory goes against being in Maine when he died. However, my mother said it was told to her that Mr. jacobs went back to Mississippi after Martha married. So this is another mystery to solve. Thanks for replying.
