Dear Bob, regarding your 19 Dec 99 query, my ancestors, Martin Jackson and family were on the Franklin Co. tax list of 28 Aug 1812, just before he enlisted in War of 1812.His wife, Nancy and children were still living there in 1824 when her father, Daniel Morris, died.Daniel was one of the three Morris brothers noted as founders of Morristown, TN.There were several other Jacksons in Franklin County in early 1800's -- Thomas, Samuel, Mitchell, William, and E.J.
It is interesting that you ask about the Cherokee.I strongly suspect that Daniel Morris' wife, Rosanna, was Cherokee. That would make Martin Jackson's wife, Nancy 1/2 Cherokee.Let me know if you have any information.Best wishes, Tom Jackson
