James Irvine Jackson
I am looking for information on James Irvine Jackson. He was born in North Carolina in 1832.He was married Rhoda A who was born in 1837 in Kentucky on May 30, 1858 in Christian County, KY.
In the 1860, they lived in District 1 Henry County, TN.Their children were named Jonathan C (1859 born in KY), James S (1861), Berta B. (1868), and Earnest H (1870).
While Berta was alive, she was very proud of her heritage, and she used to say that she was related to Stonewall Jackson. We have not been able to find the connection though. So we are searching for any possible connection.
According to Berta's Daughters of the Confederacy application, James Irvine Jackson served in the 1st to 3rd Kentucky Cavalry under Gen Morgan and the 2nd to 18th Mississippi under Gen Chalmers. His record of service was stored at the Stonewall Jackson Bivouac in McKenzie, TN.He was captured while on furlough and held in Chicago until the end of the war.
After the War, we believe he moved to McKenzie, TN in Carroll County.
We are hoping to find out who his parents were.Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
