In "Document, A History of Company D., 11th Iowa Infantry 1861-1865" by William S. Fultz (edited by Mildred Throne, editor State Historical Society of Iowa), in Iowa Journal of History pub by the Society above January 1957 issue,
On page 36 it discusses Bennett F. Jackson & his recruitment of initial roster. This unit was of Muscatine Co., Iowa.
His men called him "hellroaring Jackson". The article states that this Jackson, of Wilton, IA was a native of Ohio.My connection may not be to your Jackson, but to Henry Jackson of Frederick Co., Maryland. My Lefever family owned Bennetts Resolution there 1753 to 1806. Henry's daughter Mary Pope Jackson married Jacob Lefevre about 1805 in MD & went with Nimrod Duvall to Warren Co. OH. My Daniel b 1813 and son John Murry Lefever migrated to Muscatine and John was in the 11th Iowa.
