I was quite interested to see your post. I have an Alexander Ivory (Ivery) b. abt. 1721 Ireland. Not sure where in Ireland. He immigrated to what is now New York State and m. 1st Marya Cole (Love) in Dec 1751 and 2nd Janneke Decker in Feb 1755.
In his Revolutionary War papers he is described as 6' 1", light hair and dark complexion.
His children were; Jacobus (James), William (Wilhelmus), Elisabeth, Cornelius, Johannes (John), Jenneken, and Lydia. NY was a Dutch colony at one time and the names reflect that.
I noted in LDS records of the 1700's that there were Ivory families in the north of Ireland and also the south. Were both branches related?
I am not sure where in Ireland Alexander came from.
Would you have any info on Alexander?
Thanks.
