There is an excellent summary of the Thomas Ivey family of Robeson County, posted by Chris Ivey a little ways down this list.

I will only add a few bits to that.

In 1790, it appears that Thomas has 5 sons and 4 daughters.

Chris names 3 of those as Reuben, Thomas and John. I would add Charles and also another son, the husband of Edey Ivey who appears in 1800, indicating that her husband had died. That would make 5 sons for Thomas.

I add Charles to the list because he obviously lived in the same area as Thomas, near Jacob Rhodes.

1797 Deed Book L p 109 Benjamin Lewis and Charles Ivey to Henry Pope. W side of Flowers Swamp. Neighbors John Lambert and Jacob Lee. Witnesses J Rhodes and J Blount. Proved Dec 1802

Apr 1799, court order, Two of Genl Willis' hands, 2 of W Storm's, John Ivey, Charles Ivey, Thomas Ivey and John Powell to work on Elizabeth Road as far as 2 mile post. John Niell supervisor.

Jul 1800 Court order, Francis Colville versus Thomas Ivey St and Charles Ivey for 16 pounds, levied on 250 ac land of Thomas Ivey.

30 Jul 1800 Charles Ivey witnessed the deed where the land of Ruben Ivey was sold to Jacob Rhodes.

I will write more about Charles Ivey later.

By 1800, Ruben and the husband of Edith Ivey had died. Charles and Edey had their own hshlds. Thomas appeared only in the 1810 census, when he had 1 son and 4 dauhters under age 10. John Ivey never appeared in the census.

In 1800 Thomas Ivey Sr was listed as 00201/00201. (John and Thomas still at home.)

In 1810 there is a Thomas Ivey listed with 4 other free persons. Chris Ivey suggested this could be Thomas Ivey Sr, but I wonder if this is so, considering that in 1811 Thomas Jr is in court protesting that he is a white man.

In 1810 Charles is listed next to Edey Gilbert, I assume remarried Edey Ivey. She is not listed after 1810.

Of the whole family of Thomas Ivey, only Charles was left in Robeson County in 1820 as listed in the census. It appears to me that all had moved on from the county.

Does anyone know where they went? We have a lot of daughters unaccounted for, but only 1 son of Thomas Jr born 1800-1810 and 1 son of Charles b 1804-1810 missing. (Taking into account the persons mentioned by Chris Ivey.)
