In a telephone conversation, Janice Ivester of Alpharetta, GA. compiler of the most comprehensive history of the Ivesters in the USA, told me she had determined during a trip to Orkney that the Hugh Isbister s/o Janet Omand was NOT our immigrant forebear; Janice said that the Hugh mentioned in your post b. 1757 was found to have remained in Orkney.

I believe the best info we have is that "our" Hugh was born 1755.
