This is a list of information I have been able to collect on his life

· Born: June 14, 1909 Hunt, Illinois.
· He was one of seven children.
· He had a sister named Audrey.
· He learned his first tunes and folk ballads from his pipe-smoking grandmother, and by age four, he was
singing in his grandfather's church. (Grandfather a Preacher?)
· The name on his Tombstone monument is Burl Ives
· He studied at Eastern Illinois State Charleston Teachers College and New York University
· Studied with vocal coach, Ekka Toedt
· He was a Corporal in the U.S.Army during WWII as Burl Icle Ives
· Burl had joined DeMolay in Illinois on December 5, 1927
· Burl was made a Master Mason in Magnolia Lodge No. 242 in Santa Barbara, California.
· Burl and Dorothy bought a new home in Santa Barbara on September 2, 1975.
· February 10, 1976, Burl Icle Ives was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.
· Burl Ives died of cancer on April 14, 1995 Anacortes, WA. He was 85.
· Burl was buried: Mound Cemetery, Jasper, Illinois
