Well...I have this guy's name as Abel Ives, rather than Amos. Other than that, though...seems to be the same guy. I have Abel Ives, b. 1802 in CT, d. 1893 in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Apparently moved to Ohio in the 1820's. Married Lucy Hubbard, who was b. abt 1808. Had 3 sons and a daughter. Next...the other Amos you asked about - b. 1747, with son also named Amos, b. 1775. I'm pretty sure you're talking about the Amos Ives who married Lucy Hall, although I have him b. 1749 or 1750 (I have 3 sources - all secondary. 1 says 1749, 2 say 1750). But he had a son named Amos b. 1775, so I think we're talking the same guy. Assuming we're talking about the same guy in both cases, then the answer to your question would be "yes, they're related." Not terribly closely, though. My relationship calculator says 3rd cousins, once removed, meaning you have to go back 4 generations in one case and 5 generations in the other to reach a common ancester. I show the two pedigrees looking like this: Abel - Abel - Able - Ebenezer - Joseph - William Amos - Caleb - Nathaniel - John - William CAVEAT: I haven't researched either of these lines rigorously. I think the information I have is reasonably accurate, but if there isn't the odd error I'd be pretty surprised. Notify Administrator about this message?
