Thanks- I think your intention was to tie the Olmsted and Olmstead names together? I was wondering how/where Frederick Law Olmstead Sr. into the Ives genealogy. Olmstead is well known in this town for the number of parks he designed- and the fact that one park in particular, Seneca Park, which contains the zoo, has had an argument going as to whether to use the entire park for zoo or to maintain the confined zoo and leave the park as is. The primary argument for not expanding the zoo is that the park was created by Olmstead Sr., and neighbors allegedly want to maintain it as Olmstead had designed it....allegedly. He also designed Highland Park, home of our Rochester Lilac Festival, and possibly a few of the other parks locally, as well as NYC's Central Park.
