Unless you can show it impossible, I'd say that Martha (#9), wife of John Jr., is the Patty Vannatter in this news clipping: "m on the 20th ult. in Potter county, by John Taggart, Esq. Mr. John Ives, to Miss Patty Vanatter, both of Pike twp." [ http://rootsweb.com/~patioga/newspapr/phenix28.htm ] More evidence is on the 1850 census for Eulalia Twp., Potter Co., Penna. A household consists solely of "Riley Ives, 18; Amelia Ives, 16; Betsy van Atter, 66", with the latter called "grandmother" on this transcript: http://www.enchantedmountains.com/1850eulaliatwpcen.htm It's a good guess that Betsy is the mother of Martha/Patty. She's also probably the wife (perhaps sister-in-law) of the Potter pioneer and pantherslayer Jacob B. Vannatter. Patty's generation (whether siblings or cousins) would consist of: Jacob (m. Rebecca Keeler) Polly (m. Isaac Merrick; a descendant calls Isaac's wife "Elvira") Edward Parker (m. Almira Burrows) Elizabeth (m. John Nelson) Howland (m. Eunice M. Butler) This would make Burl Ives a descendant of Jacobus Janszen van Etten, who arrived in New Netherland in 1658.
