Please excuse the format below, but it is all there. Maybe it'll straighten out after I submit it. There is a Steve Ives who lives in Minnesota, who is a History Major. He hass been addicted to this story, and just held three press conferences in Montana at Missoula, Virginia City, and Bannack, Montana. The famous Author Stephen Ambrose who has recently had the best seller about the Lewis and Clark expedition was present for the new information that Steve was going to present. Ruth E. Mather was there with him, and I am sure that this stirred up some interesting feelings in Montana, where they still support the Vigilantisim that hung George Ives and twenty or so others. In Fact, The MT Highway patrol just adopted the number which was the "sign" of the Vighilantes, 3-7-77, to be added to their State Badges. Each year in Virginia City, they still hang George Ives in effigy during "Vigilante Days. Steve was appalled to learn that his twelve year old daughter witnessed this display one year.
As I am able to obtain the events and how they played out at the press conference, I will add to this story. Steve is not online currently.
