Vivian, I think I can shed some light on your family. I believe Richard Ivens was one of eight children of Thomas Ivens (1778 - 1850) who had married Anne Ivens in 1814. Anne was the daughter of Richard Ivens and Mary Bowell - but I can explain that line later. Richards siblings were: Valentine (Richard) Amelia (1819-1842) Robert (1821-1822) Elizabeth (1829-1834) Robert (1831-1842) Edgar (1833 - ) married Eugene Devils (NZ) Adelaide Matilda (1836-1837) Their father, Thomas, I have as a tailor - but you may have some information which contradicts this. Thomas parents were Robert Ivens (1739-1814) and Elizabeth Breakespeare Robert was one of 8 children, and I am descendant of his younger brother - William Ivens who is the one who went off to the Azores and started that whole family connection (the Ferraz-Ivens). Much interesting information here. William is also the person who created the Ivens Coat of Arms. Robert and Elizabeth lived in Swinbrook, Oxfordshire, and the table grave can be seen just outside the main door. I have lots of information about this family and a fairly comprehensive family tree. If you would like to contact me directly on david.ivens@wild-duck.co.uk I can send you some of the attachments. Even a portrait of William. I would be most pleased to receive any detailed information you have about the family. By the way, I have Richard Ivens married to Marguerita Reid regards, David Ivens Notify Administrator about this message?
