Dear Peter, Thanks for your help! I will follow your advises. The problem I had 20 years ago is that in the parish of Maratea (they told-me that they were the only parish in 1796) there was no one recorded with the surname MONCHE. I will try again as you advise to me. I tried in Google and any with the surname MONCHE are descendets of Michele MONCHE like me. I tried in the phone directory and I did not find any MONCHE in Italy. I tried also in the Mormon's registry and appear a few in Latinamerica but not in Italy. So, I now that he was Italian as he, and his issue, were registered in the Italian Consulate of Cartagena, Murcia, Spain. Some times inmigrants have spanished their surname to make it clearer for Spaniards, but I am not sure in my case as the surname is registered as MONCHE in the Italian Consulate. It exist in Germany the surname MÖNCHE or MOENCHE but I have no one reference that my ancestors were of German origin and from pictures he was a pure mediterránean. All church registries of Cartagena were burnt in the Civil War, so no documentation I can found there about the church he was christianized in Italy or his both marriages in Cartagena, Spain. For this reason I am lost and now, with the possibilities provided by Internet, I am tryien to discover the mistery of my paternal origins in Italy Notify Administrator about this message?
