Sicily Malta
Hello!
I have begun to explore my family genealogy on the internet. Both my parents families come from Aragona Sicily. I was able to figure out the names of my great grandparents from the LDS mormon records based on, the town(Aragona) the similiarity and repetition of family names, and dates in terms of generations.
I am considering ordering the microfilm from Aragona from LDS to see what I can find out. I was able to figure out the names of my great grandparents on both my Buscemi and Mula sides, and exploring my mothers name Mula I found that it was an uncommon name in Sicily although there were Mula's in Aragona Sicily. I then found Mula on Malta with similar family names going back to the 1600's. And I found other records of Mula's going back to the 1400's (a military roster from the 1490's lists Mula's as soldiers).
I believe my family immigrated from the island of Malta to Aragona Sicily at some point based on the geographic proximity and the similarity of family names. I'm not sure at what point the would have immigrated but perhaps it would have been during the 1600's or 1700's. Does anyone have any information on this subject or how you would make a connection from someone on the island of Malta to Sicily?Thank you.
