Dear Julie there are 5 towns in the Piemonte region with Castello as part of their name and none of them have anybody currently residing in any of the "Castello" named towns with the surname Dardanelli. However there are 71 Dardanelli listed for the entire region of Piemonte currently living in other towns.....what to do???? send an e-mail to OZ National archives at ref@naa.gov.au seeking location of records based upon the information you have. Go to www.naa.gov.au as well and see if you can locate any other record of his arrival. Fiogure he must have been around 20 years when he first arrived in OZ on his own but he may have come with his family as a child... Research. In the meantime I will chekc for anyone arriving with the surname in the pre 1850's....Petertimber
