Hi Corrina,
So that's the Giuseppe Tumia that came to the US in 1916. I went to Ellis Island 3 years ago and I saw that listing, but I thought they had it wrong since my uncle Giuseppe came over (I thought) in 1903 and my grandfather (also Giuseppe) had come over to the US twice even before that. But they were not listed in the Ellis records so they may have landed somewhere else.

Do you now where your grandfather was born? was it Villarosa or Villapriolo. That is where my family is from. It is right in the center of Sicily. Province of Enna. I was born in 1950 and came to the US from there in 1960. We changed the spelling of our last name from Tumia to Tumea because my uncle (Giuseppe)had done that and we didn't know any better back then. Try to find out more and let me know what you find out.

Tony Tumea
ps January in Italian is Gennaio
