My fathers mothers maiden name was Tortorello. Her mothers name was Maria (Mary) Tortorello. Mary, a widow in New York City, had two daughters Frances (my grandmother) and "Maggie". Frances married a man named Defillipo and moved to Boston around 1909(?). She later married my grandfather Alfonso Mardarello, and my father proceeded from this union. I understand that Maria Tortorello died during the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918/1919 in New York City and is buried in an unmarked grave in North Arlington, NJ. I am trying to find out where the Tortorello's came from.
