Castel di Sangro record source

I'm researching a WW1 soldier, Pasquale Di Giacomo, who emigrated from Castel di Sangro, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy to Akron, Ohio, USA. He arrived in New York onboard the S.S. Europa with his siter, Filomena, on Feb. 13, 1914. He was killed in action in Belgium on Nov. 4, 1918 and is buried in Flanders Field, Waregem, Belgium. I would like to find record of him and his family in Castel di Sangro before his came to the America. Does anyone know where I should start looking?
