Gregg,
It appears that we have followed two different Thomas ISON of Coleorton.I had used the one bapt. 19 Sept 1779 at Coleorton, son of Henry ISON/ Mary because the Thomas bapt 24 Jan 1779, son of Thomas ISON/ Mary had 'of Whitwick' in the Coleorton bapt. Reg.However they appear to be first cousins.
Could the Thomas ISON who didn't marry Sarah HOPKINSON be the Thomas ISON who married Elizabeth BRINDLEY 15 Oct 1812 at Mancetter ?, or die single at Coleorton ?
Henry ISON marr. Mary :-.Identifying the Henry and Mary, parents of Thomas bapt 19 Sept 1779 is very difficultThere seems to be 3 Henry & Mary ISON having children bapt. at Coleorton between 1768 and 1798. 2 of them have the Bapt Reg entry annotated Breeden or Whitwick and are unlikely to be all the same as they have between them 12 children spread over 30 years. However, I have been able to find one bapt of Henry likely to be the father of Thomas 19 Sept 1779 and that is the Henry you found bapt 1744 son of Thomas and Ann and hence brother of Thomas bapt 1740 at Coleorton.
In spite of these loopholes I am fairly confident that our lines from Staveley go back to Henry ISON bapt 1671 at Ansley, Warwickshire and married Mary WILKINS 1698 at Swepstone.
Ansley link, -There is a Joseph ISON gravestone at Swepstone, died 15 Sept 1811 age 62 (= b. 1749).The IGI has Joseph s. of George ISON / Mary bapt 29 May 1749 at Ansley.
Thanks for your help in putting this family together.
Bob.
