Where does the name Ison come from?

I got from Ancestry.com that Ison is from Ida's son, either patronymic or metronymic. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm trying to find Sir Gideon Isom Ison's ancestors and I'm getting pretty desperate by now!
Also, Ian Ison has on his website that Ison was associated with King Henry II. Anyone have a link to this?
Thanks, Rosetta Ison
