Ismay's in Essex

There's a whole gaggle of Ismay's down here in Essex. We all descended from James Ismay born around the turn of the 20th century (my Great Grandad). He apparently always used to refer to Lord Ismay as his uncle, but I'm not sure if he was right or if he was a more distant relative.
James came from the Liverpool area and attended the Blue Coat School (I think thats the name?).
His daughter Dulcie, my Grandmother, has some family history from a distant cousin in the Liverpool area.
I have also been told by a non-family member that Lord Ismay has the dubious honour of having a Derby Winner disqualified as it was too old to enter the race? Does anyone know more about that story?
Sean
